What is a supplement?
A supplement is something every customer needs to understand. When you are in an accident that is covered by insurance, the insurance adjuster comes out and writes an initial estimate. This is for visual damage only. It is a 'beginning' estimate. Many people get upset or discouraged that the estimate isn't as much money as they thought it would be. Moreover, many times the estimate from the insurance company is less or differs from an independently obtained estimate from a repair facility. Don't worry. A supplement is an additional ("hidden") damage that is found after the original estimate is written. This is very common and is almost expected with today's plastic and aluminum cars. It is NOT UNCOMMON. A reputable shop will keep you informed of the progress and advise you they've received a supplement and what it covers (i.e.: what the 'extra work' is) as well as the warranty of the extra work.
